Q: iPad Air won't turn on

New iPad Air won't turn, was left for half a day charged, when I returned to it to go on it it wasn't responding, tried soft resetting (pressing lock button and home button simultaneously) and it did not work. Then proceeded to try put it into recovery mode and DFU mode, but when connected to iTunes, iTunes does not read that the device is plugged in. Tried charging for a couple hours yet nothing still, gave the iPad a few whacks on the back of it, but still nothing, does anyone know what to do?

Try Recovery Mode or DFU one more time. If it does not work see the last sentence. Good luck.

Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.

While your device is connected, force restart it: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, and don't release when you see the Apple logo.

Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen and wait for it to restore.

You may have to do the above more than once as recovery mode is difficult to get into.

Restore as New first and test it. Then restore from backup if desired. If the backup is corrupted it will likely bring back the issue.

If the above steps do not help, you may have to take it to an Apple store for testing.

I Don't think that I would whack it on the back any more, but that's up to you.

When when you plug it in to the wall socket to charge, do you hear the ding or see anything that tells you that the device is connecting? If you plug it into your computer, do you hear the ding? If you are hearing the sound, maybe this will help.

If you can get iTunes to see the iPad, then try elcpu's suggestions again.

I just realized that, you said this.....

    New iPad Air won't turn,

I don't know how new, new is, but Apple no longer sells the iPad Air. They sell the iPad Air 2. If it is a 2, and it is "new", it is still under warranty.
