Q: Messages/iMessage not working on MBP AND iPad

Possibly unrelated but my 15" MBP, Mid 2012 running OS X El Capitan crashed where an error screen (black background, white text in the foreground) stated my laptop was going to restart momentarily.

Upon logging back in to the machine, I was able to launch the Messages application however no messages were able to be delivered. I would receive the user@domain.com doesn't exist. So I elected to sign out and sign back in. Only problem was I was never able to sign back in.

The error message I receive is: "Could not sign in to iMessage." followed by "An error occurred during activation. Try again."

I've attempted to reset my password and with the new password I receive the same error. Additionally, my iPad which was also working correctly prior to this incident is also not working. I have used my credentials to attempt to log in to 2 other Macbook Pros and have received the same error message. Other users within the company are not experienceing this issue and are presently communicating via Messages.

I am able to log in via the https://appleid.apple.com/ portal  - and nothing indicates there is an issue with the account. It's not locked nor disabled.

Prior to trying my login credentials for Messages on other machines, I reinstalled (without formatting) OS X El Capitan on my primary MBP and still had the same issue.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), null
