Q: how to re-install iphoto after mavericks upgrade? without App Store

I just upgraded to Mavericks, and am looking to restore to an updated version of iphoto since my current version will not open in Mavericks.

I cannot download anything from the App store, even If I try to unhide my purchases it does not exist for me. This is probably because I bought the mac in 2011 and installed from a disk, not from a download. The app store was not really around at this time.

I do not want to upgrade past Mavericks, as this imac will likely not perform well in anything later, and also because I will lose access to even more software.

Is there any way to install an iphoto version that will operate in Mavericks without downloading a previous purchase from the App store?

its a 27" imac, 3.4 intel i7 8gb ram

Thanks for any help!

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), null

Only by purchasing an appropriate install disk, if you can find one. iLife 11 is the one you would be looking for.

Great! Thanks so much for the help Terence. I will track down my iLife disk or possibly purchase another. After some research it seems a little uncertain whether or not iLife 11 is compatible with Mavericks but I will give it a shot.

    Thanks again

You are five or six years late to the party and as I remember you need iPhoto 9.5.1 for Maverick and I do not believe that it is available unless you previously owned it from the App Store

Hi Larry, Thanks for the advice.

I will try to track down iphoto 9.5.1, I am hoping it will be available to me somehow even though I have not purchased it thought the app store.

If you or anyone else has any suggestion as to how I can come across this version I would be very grateful.

    Thanks for you help!

What version of iPhoto are you trying to use currently?  The highest version you can get is 9.4.3 if you purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disc, install iPhoto 9.0 from it and upgrade from the Apple Download site thru these updaters:

    1 - update to iPhoto 9.2.1

    2 - update to iPhoto 9.3

    3 - update to iPhoto 9.3.2

    4 - update to iPhoto 9.4

    5 - and finally to iPhoto 9.4.3

I don't remember if 9.4.3 is compatible with Mavericks but it may be.  One user at RoaringApps.com reports iPhoto 9.5 compatible.  So proceed at your own risk, dollar wise that is.

Thanks for the response, and for those links OT,

I am trying to use any version that will work in Mavericks which I believe has to be 9.5. I currently have 9.1 installed, but since 9.1 is not compatible with Mavericks it will not open and has been greyed on the dock and in the apps folder.

When I try to upgrade through those updaters, I receive this message:

"Alert - The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available."

And since my version of iphoto that was first installed on this computer did not come from the app store, I am unable to download any upgrades from the app store.

This mac was purchased in 2011, when there was no app store.
