Q: Enlarged bootcamp partition, now can't boot into Windows

Hi all, hope you can help. Running Windows 7 on Bootcamp partition. OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 on other side.

Needed to make Windows partition bigger to install Far Harbour, although from reviews not sure all this pain worth it. This is what's happened so far:

1. I enlarged Bootcamp partition using Disk Utility

2. Restarting the computer and holding down Alt, I couldn't see the usual option to start Windows partition.

3. Then I read I had to go to System Preferences and make Bootcamp my start-up disk, which I did.

4. But on restart, I get the 'No bootable device -- insert disk and press any key' error message.

5. Don't have a step 5. Was hoping you could help me find one.

Thanks in advance for any wisdom.

The way to enlarge a Boot Camp partition is to either:

    a. Use Boot Camp assistant to remove Windows and return the had drive to a single partition. Then reinstall Windows using Boot Camp Assistant this time specifying the Boot Camp size you need.

    b. Use CampTune, a third party app, to resize an already set up Boot Camp partition.

Tried option B, but got this message:

Checking Mac OS X partition failed with error: File system has allocation errors due to cros-linked files. Run OS built-in tools for checking and correcting this kind of errors.

Any ideas where to go now?

You use CampTune on a working Boot Camp installation not after you used the wrong tool, Disk Utility, which messed up your partitioning. Search this community to find similar posts as yours and possible solutions proposed by LonerT

Can I go to a Time Machine back-up? Will that undo whatever I've done? Then could start again.
