Q: transfer playlist from itunes 12.4.3.1 to iphone?

i recently updated from the old to new itunes.  before, to transfer songs/playlist from itunes to my iphone, i'd create a playlist in itunes with the songs i wanted on my iphone, then drag and drop said playlist to the device/iphone section on the left hand side.  the device section would blink once, and the songs/playlist were transferred successfully.

i must be doing something wrong, because when i drag the playlist to the device area, it has a + sign, and from my experience this signifies an appropriate dropping place while "dragging and dropping"  but when i release, nothing happens.

it's also unlikely this is the wrong way to do it, for it is too simple and logical for this to not be an option for transferring a playlist.

can anyone help?

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.4, ipad, iphone 5

    Hello chrismcclain077,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. I know how important it is to be able to manage your music effectively and I'd like to help you get your playlists syncing as expected.

The way you've described adding your playlists by dragging and dropping them uses a setting called "Manually manage music and videos". Since you've recently updated, this setting may have been reset to it's default.

When you plug your phone into the computer and open iTunes click on the icon of your phone to view the summary page. Towards the bottom of the page (you may have to scroll down) there is a check box for this setting. Be sure that box is checked and try to re-sync. If it already is checked, try toggling it off, and then back on.

Move content from iTunes on your computer to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you continue to run into any trouble, please reach out again, the whole community is here to help.
    -Best Regards.
