Aug 21, 2016 9:28 PM in response to HeronSGby sberman,With Family Sharing, your son has his own Apple ID and you have yours. Perhaps you have an iPhone. Perhaps he has an iPhone. But you two certainly do not share an iPhone (otherwise, you may see the symptoms you describe).
Under Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, be certain that you and your son have absolutely unique addresses listed. He must not have your Apple ID there, and vice-versa. He must not have your iPhone there, and vice-versa.
