Aug 22, 2016 2:33 AM in response to Terence Devlinby Arnie M,Thanks for your reply Terence.
I want to open the original photo-files in other apps then Aperture (i.e. the standard "Preview" app on Mac) and transfer, copy or move them to another disk as well.
The main concern is that I want to have the original photos safe and backed up without the use of Aperture. What I try to find out is if will I loose photos without using Aperture (except for the processing done on certain photos in Aperture most likely). To put it in other words: Are there any (original) photos stored or saved in a certain file I only can access, open or move by using Aperture?

Aug 22, 2016 5:11 AM in response to Arnie Mby Terence Devlin,Assuming you have the default, managed, library.
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the Aperture Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Masters'. Your Photos, as imported from your camera, are within.
As for edited versions: unfortunately you're in a bit of a Bind. Aperture 2 is too old to run on recent OSes. You would need Aperture 3 and that's no longer sold. So, rock and hard place there, I'm afriad.

Aug 22, 2016 5:59 AM in response to Terence Devlinby Lexiepex,Lightroom Plug in manager says "Aperture Library" no version mentioned.
Not much more to find in:
https://forums.adobe.com/search.jspa?q=can%20lightroom%20read%20aperture%202%20l ibrary%3F
About Photos I am not100% sure, since I did not follow new plugins anymore.

Aug 22, 2016 6:19 AM in response to Lexiepexby Terence Devlin,This
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/aperture-import-plug-in-lightroom-faq.html
I'm afraid is quite specific:
What versions of iPhoto and Aperture Libraries does this plug-in support?
Libraries maintained with iPhoto 9.x and Aperture 3.5.x are supported.
So that rules out LR, I'm afraid.

Aug 22, 2016 6:25 AM in response to Terence Devlinby Lexiepex,Looks like it yes.
Checked my old things, and what I imported some time ago was Aperture 3.5.
Quit correct, I seem to be too unspecific in Photos (again)....
Thanks Terence.
