Q: How do I make my email HTML compatible?

I can not view some incoming email.  This has happen recently.  It either comes in with the message to use an HTML compatible email client or in a lot of code.  What settings need to be changed to correctly view all email.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

    to correctly view all email.

    Mail>Preferences>Viewing>Load remote images

    Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced>Automatically download attachment

This is the best you can do, you can not always control incoming mail html

There has to be a better solution - why would news services compose in HTML that is not viewable!!

    Hello luckygirl56,

Sometimes you can fix this by rebuilding your mailbox. In Apple Mail go to Mailbox > Rebuild.

But before you do this, make SURE to have a Time Machine backup. The "Rebuild" function is not quite what it seems. It actually deletes all of your mail and then downloads it again. So in addition to having a good backup, you also need a fast internet connection, hopefully less than 10,000 messages in your inbox, and a lot of free time to sit and wait for it. It will not be fast.

Did I mention the part about the backup?
