Q: How do i transfer photos from Photos to a new folder without changing the date?

hey!

So i have lots of photos and i wanted to transfer them to an external harddisk. When i copied all the photos and pasted them to the folder. The dates were all changed to today's date. When i clicked on the photos i looked at the creation date but that was changed also. Is there any other ways to transfer them with their original dates? Also as they are more than 5GB i dont want to use iCloud. But if that's the only way i ll try to use it too.

Thanks.

Use the option to export an unmodified version from the Photos File menu.

You are confusing the photo date (in the EXIF/IPTC data within the Photo which does not change as it refers to the Photo and has nothing to do with the file containing the photo - it is recorded by the camera - and the file dates which refer only to the file and have noting at all do do with the photo and are recreated each time you create a new file as you would expect

If you export the unmodified original then the original files dates remain and there is software available which will modify file dates to match Photo dates - I do not use it and see it as a problem not an advantage but you can use it is you choose
