Q: reinstalling os x, bluetooth disconnects, El Capitan
Hi everyone,
I have started to be plagued by random bluetooth mouse (and kb & trackpad if connected) disconnects/reconnects following the 10.11.6 update on my iMac Retina 5K late 2015. Nothing has changed in my set up and my investigations into hardware failures seem to point to a software not hardware issue.
I have tried everything advised in the forums by many people, and seem to be left with no alternative but to wipe my system and reinstall a fresh operating system, and then restore my apps and documents etc.
My question is, if I am to follow this procedure, do I need to sign out of icloud first? I am not selling it, just wanting to perform a clean install, then restore back my apps etc.
I have read many entries for other users on the Net reporting similar Bluetooth issues, and supposedly Apple put a fix in 10.11.6 to fix random dropouts, so there must be a recognised problem.
I regularly use TechTool Pro (a favourite of the Apple genius's) and the Bluetooth module checks out fine, as does the rest of the system.
I would welcome advice from anyone before I take the drastic move of the clean install, and also like to hear from anyone experiencing similar bluetooth disconnect issues since El Capitan updates.
Thanks
Craig
