Q: Does iCloud for PC allow uploads of non-IOS video?

First timer so I apologize if this has been covered but I couldn't seem to find it. I have ICloud for PC on my Windows 10 machine and have been trying to upload video to iCloud storage. For some reason, it will not seem to let me upload any videos I've shot on devices other than my iPhone or iPad (ie, family videos I've converted to MP4 that live on my Windows hard drive). I tried to use the shared folder option but it wouldn't accept any video longer than 5 minutes. Am I missing something or does iCloud storage only take media shot with an Apple device? Thanks in advance.

    Hello RonOlf,

It looks like you are trying to use iCloud for Windows to store files.  This is a great tool that will allow you to access files from any device.

Once you have iCloud for Windows downloaded and installed (Download iCloud for Windows), be sure you have iCloud Drive installed.  This will allow you to upload photos, videos, and other files that can then be accessed from other devices by logging into iCloud.com with your AppleID.  You will need to be sure that you have an iCloud account large enough to store the files you want to upload.

Manage your iCloud storage and account information:

You can manage your iCloud storage by upgrading your storage plan or reducing the amount of storage that you're using. And if you want to make changes to your Apple ID, you can update your email, mailing address, or other account information.

    • To see your available storage, open iCloud for Windows.
    • To manage your storage, click Storage. Select an app to see how much storage you're using, or click Buy More Storage to upgrade your storage.
    • To manage your Apple ID, open iCloud for Windows and click Account details. Then click Manage Apple ID.

You can find more information about iCloud for Windows by clicking any of the following links:

    Download iCloud for Windows

Set up and use iCloud for Windows

Set up iCloud on all your devices.

Thank you for using Apple Communities and have a great day!

Sarah:  Thank you. I should have been clear that I do have iCloud Drive installed in addition to iCloud photos. My problem is that it still will not let me upload video. There seems to be no status bar beyond the note on the iCloud tray icon that says "uploading 3 items" but these items never seem to upload. From File Manager, I can click "iCloud photos" and then "upload photos and videos" but once I select the video for uploading, nothing seems to happen... and there's no status bar to show me if the upload is progressing.

    Hello RonOlf,

Thank you for being part of the Apple Community!

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are having with uploading files to iCloud.  I do have a suggestion for you that will hopefully lead to a solution.

It is important to check that you have enough space in iCloud to upload the files in question. A 5 min video can be a fairly large file, depending on how it was created.

Check to see how much iCloud storage you have

    • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

      • If you're using iOS 8 or later, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.
      •
      • If you're using an earlier version of iOS, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    • On your Mac, go to Apple menu > System Preferences, click iCloud, then click Manage.
    • On your PC, open iCloud for Windows, then click Manage.

    Have a great day!
