Q: Projected video resolution large screen

I have a QT video project edited on Final Cut.  It's 354.7 mb 720x480.  It will be projected onto a large screen via laptop.  Will the resolution be the same as it is on my computer monitor?  The DVD copy of it on a 40" television screen is terrible!

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), edited with final cut pro x

    If the file is 720x480, that is all the pixel information you have to work with. To play it full screen on an HDTV that is 1920 x1080 is going to look pretty grim unless the TV has a really good scaling algorithm - and most don't.

     

    One way around this is to play the video within a window so that it doesn't go full screen.

     

    A second way around is to use a program like Apple's Motion or Adobe After Effects to scale the video to something closer to the TV's native resolution so it doesn't have to work so hard scaling the material.
