Q: How can I update the Apple Watch without an iPhone

The iPhone app is trash and sits there doing nothing for hours.  I'm trying to pair a watch moving between my daughters.  The first daughter didn't update the watch before leaving for school.  Now I'm stuck.  It won't pair without an update.

    Hi

    It is not possible to update the software on Apple Watch without using the Watch app on an iPhone.

    Hi

    The following steps may help to address issues at or before the "verifying" stage when updating the software Apple Watch.

    However, do not interrupt your iPhone or watch if the process has already reached the "installing" stage.

    • On your iPhone, close the Watch app and all other open apps:
      • Double-click the Home button, then swipe upwards on each app preview.
    • Remove your watch from the charger and restart both devices:
      • Turn both off together, then restart your iPhone first;
        • To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
        • To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
    • Replace your watch on the charger, keep your iPhone connected to power and try setting up again:

    she can also take it to an apple store and they will (likely) perform the update for free.

    contact apple using the link at the bottom of this page.
