Q: OSX Boot Loops after booting in to Win10 via Bootcamp

Hello,

I did a clean install of osx 10.11.6.  After running all updates I used migration assistant to bring in my userdata and apps.  Then, I installed Win8 Pro x64 via bootcamp.  From there, I upgraded to Win10 Pro x64.  Win10 works great!

Once I shut down and go to boot back in to OSX, it just boot loops.  Chimes, starts loading osx  Reboots... repeat.   I've booted in to recovery and told it to use it OSX as startup disk, and it still boot loops.   Reinstalling OS 10.11 via internet recovery does the trick, until I decide to use Windows again.  It also eats up 30 minutes of my time just to get OSX functioning again.

Any advice? I have a feeling Win10 is doing something to EFI settings?  Please help.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Try using Boot Camp to uninstall Windows, then see if you get a normal boot. If so, try using Boot Camp to reinstall Windows.

I'm searching for less destructive methods first, but I may settle for using a Win10 OEM iso to re do bootcamp with, and hope that it keeps my digital entitlement license from the upgrade(which is tied to some kind of unique system identifier on Microsoft's end.)

I do not have a Win10 Product Key since free upgrades use digital entitlement.  I'll reply back with any solutions I find.

I believe that in the upgrading from W8 to W10 it may have done something on the EFI/BOOTLOADER level that breaks OSX every time W10 launches.

I removed bootcamp and recreated the partition.  Installed with a Win10Prox64 ISO.  OSX will no longer boot again.

    SOLVED

So, I had removed Bootcamp and reinstalled W10 using a W10 ISO rather than upgrading from 8.  It asked for product keys during installation but I skipped the step.  Win10 did activate automatically once I ran my first round of updates.

OSX would NOT boot, so I booted in to internet recovery using cmd+r and reinstalled OSX.  All my user data was fine, and now I am able to boot in to W10 and OSX and both work perfectly.

I am no sure why this worked, as with my previously installed W10 I tried reinstalling OSX, but it would break after booting in to W10.  Hopefully this helps anyone else who encounters a similar situation.
