Q: Os compatibility question

What makes a computer compatible with certain operating systems? I guess a better question is why is my 2008 MacBook not compatible with an OS beyond 10.7?

    In your case, it’s that the computer’s EFI isn’t 64-bit. In general, it’s that part of the computer’s hardware is too old, or that Apple decided that the newer OS wouldn’t run at a reasonable speed.
