Q: How to reset encrypt iPhone Backup Password on iTunes if I Lost my Password

May I know the details about how to manually migrate data, any link? I wonder if it is something can be done by myself or only doable by an Apple technician. By "data" I didn't mean just the notes or things I typed in, but also all the data in different apps. Thanks!

Of course you can make backups and you can restore them?!  People do it all the time.  If you have enabled encrypted backups, the only requirement is that you actually remember the backup password that you yourself actually setup.

The data in the apps is indeed a variable. Some apps will store the data for you on their servers, some may not be migrate-able.

There is a section for apps and their data when you sync, not backup to iTunes. Not all apps use it, but it is available to developers. Look on the lower part of the APPS tab of your iOS device. It's marked file sharing and has documents created by some of your apps that can be saved manually.

You could also use iCloud, which does backup app data.

To migrate data, the standard iOS model is to make a backup of the data, and then restore it from that backup.  You have three basic options in backing up.  One is to backup to the 5GB of storage provided in a free iCloud account.  The other is to backup to your own computer with iTunes, either via a regular backup, or an encrypted backup.

Without an option to reset or retrieve my password, I cannot retrieve a backup OR switch off encrytion and make a new back up.

This is a ridiculous feature Apple. Offering no solution to turn off backup encryption is counter productive. All I want to do is back up my iPhone 6 and restore it onto my new iPhone 6S.

As a Mac user of over 25 years iTunes has to be the weakest possible offering the company has ever produced. Is there no solution but to set up as a new iPhone? Really?

Retreive it from where, or whom?  Reset it how?  It is a purely localized password stored solely on your devices.  Are you expecting Apple to build in the Hollywood mythical backdoor (thus compromising the very security model at the same time)?

It's a simple and highly effective security model - without the password the data is irretrievable, from backup file or device. Most computer's with purely local hard drive encryption schemes operate exactly the same way. The password is the single, sole key for access, so best you remember it if you wish to use those security features.

What's ridiculous to me is people clambering for privacy protection and strong security.  Then when someone actually provides thsee things, people complain it's too complicated or inconvenient or it makes them too personally responsible for their own security.

ive been trying to find out if you can manually transfers files on iPad to a location other than iTunes since I forgot the encrypted password. You seem to indicate this is possible. Could you enlighten me on how to accomplish this task?

I have the same problem, recently i decided to change my iphone to android and as i was transferring files i need to disabled encrypted password in iTunes and it got me crazy because i really cant remember the password, i try every details i read on net but it doesn't  work but luckily i manage to find the answer using torrent and crack version of TENOSHARE Iphone Back up. It really works that's why i wanted to share it to all message me if you want the full details.

BTW i don't even remember that i put that password .
