Q: ipad air mail icon shows 1 but email has been cleared


Ipad air

 

the mail icon shows 1 unread but all mail has been cleared.   I found an older post with this same problem from 2008

but I don't see "preferences" in the listings so I can't follow their suggestions.  Also they say something about a "repair"

in the mail/general area and I don't see a repair option either.

I think that the discussion that are talking about was about Apple Mail on a Mac computer so that has no relevance on an iOS device.

 

Try the basic troubleshooting steps. Close Mail and restart your device.

 

Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the app you want to close. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it. Then restart your device.

 

If that doesn't work, delete the email account and add it back again.
