Q: Album Artwork - Compilation of Singles

I have 1000+ single track downloads that I have always stored in a single compilation album titled "Singles".  It used to display a random songs artwork, which I didn't have a problem with, however I made the mistake of clicking "Get Album Artwork", and now iTunes has given it an awful cover belonging to a band called 'Singles'.  I have been trying for months to delete it, but every time I do, about a minute later the downloaded cover returns.  Any suggestions?

It would probably be best to separate out all singles back into being individual and then let iTunes find the album artwork for each of them in turn. Then create a Playlist called 'Singles' and add them to this.

Or, the OP can apply the same cover to all the singles...but one he really likes. Go to Google, then do a search under Images using "single 45" as your criterion.

Or, using the same logic, the OP find the album art one single at a time.

I have tried this, but every time I change the cover, it reverts back a few minutes later.

I can see why this can be annoying - and confusing.

When I add or change iTunes cover art, the image sticks pretty permanently - and I can't get a cover to "revert" after a few minutes. What procedure do you follow to update/change cover art?

There are lots of ways to update cover art, but this link will give you some hints:

You can get specific cover art for most music through this online app:

This is the way I changed the cover art, and it keeps reverting back to what came up (not from my collection) from the one time I used 'get album artwork'.

I don't have the time or inclination to search for cover art for the thousand individual singles I have if I separated out the album.

I found two other options you might want to consider.

If you have a backup that's unaffected by your album art problem, that's the easiest way to get your art back. Swapping out the iTunes libraries should be relatively easy. The whole process should take minutes.

Also, the copy of iTunes on your Desktop machine might have a version with your original artwork. If that's the way you use your Desktop computer and portable, you'll find the iTunes copy on (your machine)/iTunes/iTunes Music.
