Q: hp printer update causes hang on boot progress bar
HP Printer Software Update 3.1. installs .kext seems to cause a hang on boot progress bar.
Recently installed the HP Printer Software Update 3.1. through AppStore. Upon the next boot progress bar became very slow to finally hang on about 98%. Safe boot would not work either.
Web research found kernel extensions to be the culprit. And the fix was removing all non-apple kernel extensions and moving them back one-at-the-time. ( https://www.justinsilver.com/technology/os-x-el-capitan-10-11-1-hanging-on-boot- fixed/ )
It turned out the freshly installed HP Printer Software Update 3.1 reproduced the boot failure in exact the same way. ( hp_io_enabler_compound.kext )
Now AppStore still wants to push this update onto me ( I tried and the problem is revived ).
- How to get a fault free Printer-driver?
- Is there a way to rate or give feed-back as with other apps?
- Why HP needs it's own .kext anyway messing with the systems integrity?
- What do do next?
MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), 8G Ram 500G HD

Downloaded the 3.1 update ages ago, use it on Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan and the next one,
All boot fine.
Download it from here, HP Printer Drivers v3.1 for OS X
and then install it. See if it makes any difference.
