Q: Gift Certificate/ Family Sharing

I received a $25 gift certificate and am in a Family Sharing plan, but when I try to make a purchase on my gift card, I get this message,"Your Family Organizer must enter the security code for their payment method." Why? I'm not using their money.

Is it the first purchase on the device/computer ? Have you entered the code, is the card actually charged for the purchase (excluding the temporary sore holding charge), or is it deducted from your account's balance ?

I've entered the gift certificate code. It shows $25 in my account in iTunes. It forces me to get my spouse's code. This is my first purchase since we moved to family sharing.

That is likely to be why you are being asked for the card's security code. If you ask the organiser to enter it you should be able to do the purchase and only your balance will be charged (the card might get a temporary store holding charge which the card issuer should automatically remove within a few days or so)
