Q: How do I export iphotos (a created album) from my Mac to Google Photos including the captions?

I now download and save all my photos I take with my camera and iphone on my Mac computer in iphoto. In iphoto, from events, I create albums where I re-arrange photos in the order I prefer and also add captions to most of the photos.

Previously I used to edit and create my photos in Picasa and upload albums to Picasa webalbums, but since Picasaweb has been transferred to Google Photos, I now would like to upload/add my iphoto albums to the Google Photo albums, so I have all my albums in one place. Which is the best way to do this??

I tried to upload the iphoto albums via Google drive and then download them into Google Photos, and that does work, the iphoto albums show up there together with my other Google Photo albums (former picasaweb photo albums), BUT all the individual captions for the photos in the iphoto albums are missing....? I don't understand why, what do I do wrong??  Is it not possible to transfer albums from iphoto to Google Photos including the captions??

I very much appreciate any help in this matter - thank you! Karin

This really is a question for a Google forum. Their service may have a way to read the iPhoto Library directly or not, but only they will know that.

If it can't (and it probably can't...) it's simple enough to export images with their captions - you can read this this user tip for details on that:

Once exported you can upload anywhere you need to.

The individual captions, titles or descriptions that you add in iPhoto are only in iPhoto until exported properly to outside the library.  They are stored in the library's database file.  If you want those items to be embedded into the actual image file you must export them out of the library with these two checkboxes checked:

However, only applications that can read and display the IPTC metadata fields in an image file can show those items.  I don't know if Google Photo albums can do that. You'll have to experiment with a few photos to see if it does or not.
