Q: Wifi connects but internet does not work

My wifi signal is strong. My computer says it's connected. Diagnostics show the signal is steady, but when I open a browser, it won't connect. It just seems to load forever, but nothing ever happens in Safari. Chrome says, "There is no internet connection. Your computer is offline." and Firefox says, "Server not found."

I have tried connecting via Ethernet, but it's the same story. Computer says it recognizes the signal, but it never actually connects. It does connect in Safe Mode, however.

i'm not sure if this is related, but iTunes won't work either. I open it up and just get the spinning pinwheel forever. It says it's not responding, and I force quit.

Here is some more information that might be helpful:

-iPhones and MacBook in the house are connecting fine to the Internet.

-My internet company just came and installed a new router/modem. We were having some problems before (which is why they came to reinstall the hardware), so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

        Deselect Proxies if selected.

System Preference > Network > Advanced  > Proxies Tab

Unlock the lock if you have to.

Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if check marked.

        Click "OK" then  "Apply”.

Are you running any Anti-Virus SW?

What all 3rd party extentions are you running?

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

I called Apple Support and got an answer to my question, for anyone else struggling out there.

We tried moving all the contents from the Library/LaunchAgents and Library/LaunchDaemons folders to the trash, restarted the computer, and the internet (and iTunes!) worked fine. I looked through and saw that one of the LaunchDaemons was some type of firewall. I was able to move all of the other files back to their original location, and internet still worked. So far so good.

    Thanks everyone!
