Q: DK partner redirect

IPad Air, IOS 9.3.4; problem with Safari so far.  When browsing, I get random redirects to dkpartner.com, a site which has games in it.  The site demands that I download at least one of their games, which I would never do. I don't game, never have. No doubt the game is more malware.  I have been careful where I go and I never download anything.

My question:  can someone help me to get rid of this redirect?  I could follow instructions do it manually, but am not opposed to an app if there are any you trust.

I have cleared cookies and history and rebooted with no success.

I appreciate any assistance. I'm at a loss to understand what happened or how to fix it.

Since you say you "never download anything", perhaps you wouldn't be adverse to erasing your iPad and setting it up as new.

If you're comfortable doing that, do Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings (after turning off Find My iPad), and set up your iPad as if it just came out of the box.

Hi. You might check that you haven't installed a profile, Settings > General > Profile. Also, try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, then reconnect to your WiFi. This will ensure your DNS hasn't been changed.

Sorry, I don't see how that's going to help. Here's what I think. DNS breach most likely happens on the WiFi router (hacked router), not on the iPad device. Resetting network settings on the ipad won't help because it will get the same bogus DNS from the WiFi router.

Check your WiFi router for signs of unauthorized tampering, particularly in DNS settings. Also try to limit the websites you visit to 1 or 2 sites. It's possible that the websites you visit are serving malicious ads that redirects to dkpartner.

How do I check my WiFi router for signs of tampering?  I have an Airport Extreme, fifth generation, and use Comcast as my ISP.  I'm only getting these redirects on my Ipads, not my MBP.

I knew that was an option and one that I finally ended up doing. That did seem to fix my problem.  It took some time as I has to back up all my pictures, and then upgrade some apps and software.   Thanks!

WIFI Router looked ok to my limited knowledge.  I suspect I visited a site that covertly downloaded the redirect software in an advertisement. I do get tines of those and clickbait on Facebook.  I try to not fall for it, but occasionally I fall into that trap.

If that is the case, your WiFi isn't the problem. You must have visited booby trapped websites that serve bad ads.

While setting the device as new solves all problems, it is highly unnecessary. The redirection problem will resurface when you visit websites that serve bad ads. Closing Safari then clearing its history and website data is normally enough to get rid of the redirection problem.
