Q: "Already Authorized" fixes aren't working

Before upgrading from 10.8 to El Capitan, I had started an audiobook on my iPhone. The book had been purchased by my wife using her ID.  I had authorized from my computer then sync'd.  After the upgrade to El Capitan, 16 items in my iTunes Library cannot be sync'd and the audio book is one of them.

I tried everything here: If iTunes prompts you to authorize your computer when you try to play iTunes Store purchases - Apple Support

I deauthorized my computer as well to no avail.

When I go to play the book on my computer, it wants me to log into my wife's apple ID. It isn't supposed to work that way. When I use my own appleid, it says it's already authorized. TIA

Sigh.

Additionally, setting up Apple's Family Sharing so my wife and I are both in a family does not resolve the problem.

I was able to resolve this on my own. After setting up Family sharing, which requires upgrading the Mac OS on some computers (we have 8), I followed the instructions provided of going to iTunes Store:

    1)  select Purchases

    2) find each song

    3) download it again

There is no way to download it again unless you delete it from your iTunes library. After that, a download button appeared, it downloaded, I could play it and sync it.
