Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

i'm also having similar problems on my iPhone 6+. Haven't noticed the gray bar, but the touch screen gets unresponsive from time to time. I have too wait for a period or lock the phone and unlock it to make it work again.

I have the same exact issue iPhone 6+ 64 GB. The screen would be unresponsive has been happening in the last couple of weeks only. I thought it was a software issue and restored the phone but that didn't work. Apple should step up!

As 2 of my posts were deleted, i can just say that stating apple could be aware of the issue and is already informed of the root cause is a bad idea, you will get censored for "speculation". Even if the information you got was from an apple employee.

The good point is now that the news is spreading on many apple fans site. You won't be apple to censor a lot there... And removing posts can be see as a proof of culpability.

Ouch... Got a new isssue with my touch screen right now... The phone started doing things by himself.

I was reading my mails when the phone started to archiving several emails. I closed the application, and then it launch another one from the board. I closed it, it went back to the board, then it goes on move/delete apps mode, and deleted an application, doing itself the confirmation!!

Woah... (My screen was clean, and after a stop/start, it's working fine.) So now, my touchscreen captor is receiving false input.

My iPhone is completely unresponsive (Touch Disease). None of this If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch - Apple Support helps.

I had screen unresponsiveness on my iphone 6s plus. No grey bar, but screen would intermittently freeze.  Went to genius bar. They replaced my screen about 9 days ago, even though there were no defects on it. So far, problem  has resolved. Wonder if this is also an "S" phone issue.

FFrom what I've read, the S phones were built with the touch IC chip behind the screen. When you replace the screen you also replace the chip.

    > I have the same issue but it happened on my iPhone 6. Tried all software restore but it still has the same problem. I took it to Japan Apple Store, the stuff told me they also have many customers has the same issue, this problem most likely won't solve after replacing the screen. So he suggested me either pay to get an exchange unit or wait for the new iPhone. Undoubtedly, the Apple Store staff familiar with this issue and looks like this is a known issue to Apple.

I am a mobile phone engineer, and I've been using iPhone since the first version. Dear Apple, If so many of your customer having the same issue and there is no recall program, many of your loyal customers, like me, will start using others brands.

With respect, no one at Apple listening and no one at Apple cares. Apple appears to have taken a business decision to not respond to this hardware and design issue, my guess is because this is so widespread it's a major financial headache for them. Essentially all iPhone 6 PLUS devices need to be replaced, would certainly impact Apple stock price.

    That's your point of view.

If the problem spread as it does since few weeks, there is no way apple will ignore it (and they obviously have a feedback of what is written here through the CMs).

Yes, it will have a cost. But the cost in term of reputation is hard estimate, and with the potential incoming jackgate, not sure Apple can afford this.

Apple is not reading here for feedback. If you have something you'd like them to hear, use the feedback link:

IF you are coming here looking for answers there are none to be had here. Apples answer is to either replace you warranted phone with a refurb or if your phone is out of warrant, pay 300+ for a refurb.  Apple has not corrected the issue in any of these devices
