Q: how do i add attachments in discussions communities

what: trying to start a discussion about Attachments possibly being used in discussion communities why: Quick Time allows screen recording; Script Editor could be used for record&playback scripting; osascript could be used for Terminal simulations; built-in screen captures; iCloud drives mounts could be used to provide access to files needed for simulations. how: this section is to be completed only after community agreement

OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), iCloud

If you have an image on your desktop/hard drive, simply highlight it and drag it into the reply window. If it is too large, it will either downsize it automatically or let you know that it is too large.
