Q: gps not working properly after iOS 9.3 update

Hi all.

After updating to iOS 9.3 my GPS cannot find my exact location. It keeps telling me I am in a big area, (Triangulating) seems like it does not activate the GPS.

Sometimes very little it works and give me the correct position, but 97% of the time its not working. Anyone else with the same problem?

Besides that: A hot phone & bad WIFI

iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3

What version of iPhone do you have? How much space do you have left? What occurred before your gps stopped working?

The Hosts delete posts that violate the Terms of Use of the forums.

that means Apple is deleting the posts, just be honest about it. There are solutions being posted, Apple is deleting them.

It means exactly what I said: The Hosts are deleting posts that violate the Terms of Use to which we all agreed when we signed up. If your post is deleted for cause, you will receive an email explaining why.

Yes they are deleting posts. If you want a honest answer to your issue you're not going to find it here. That's the best advice I can give you.

Well, here's the reason that was given for having my posts deleted:

We removed your post ... because it contained information about beta software available only to Registered Apple Developers.

The thing is, the beta version that I installed is freely available to the public and not just Registered Apple Developers. I'm not a Registered Apple Developer and I don't think many of the others on this thread who have tried it are Registered Apple Developers either. So their reason for deleting the posts are false.

While you may not be a registered developer, you are a registered beta tester. As such, you're bound by certain terms. If you read the information available to you when you downloaded the beta software, one of the things it told you was you couldn't discuss it in the public forums. That has always been the case.

Why is Apple posting here? Seriously, you only make it look worse with Apple deleting actual helpful posts.

To the best of my knowledge, Apple is not posting here. But, perhaps you (think) you know something I don't.

I haven't seen any posts from Apple. It's very rare for Apple to post, as they don't even read forum messages in most cases. And when Apple DOES post there is an Apple logo next to the name of the Host who posted. Have you seen any posts with an Apple logo?

    Followup:

I spoke to a Senior Advisor, who was very helpful on the phone. He guided me through the process of sending diagnostic information for Apple engineers to review, which I did. I received a call a couple days later, acknowledging that there was indeed a hardware problem, and that I should bring my phone in to an Apple Store for a fix. I made a genius bar appointment at the Apple store in Los Gatos. Upon arriving, the employee reviewed the notes and informed me that the identified "fix" was to purchase a replacement phone for $300. Also, they did not have any 128GB phones available, so I could have a 64GB from that store. At this point, I am more than a little frustrated because this is not a fix at all. Why did Apple send me back to a store for nothing? The employee felt bad, acknowledged that the situation was poor, and recommended that I call AppleCare back and ask for an exception. (His own manager refused an exception.) AppleCare refused as well.

I asked if Apple would recycle my current phone for a store credit to cover the cost of the replacement. They would recycle it for $220. I asked if they would at least meet the difference to cover the $300 replacement. They would not.

So, my options after buying a top-of-the-line iPhone in January 2015 are now to attempt to fix it myself, or buy a replacement phone. Extremely disappointing.

Most commonly repeated phrase through the ordeal from multiple lower-level support people (who were all very kind and personable.. but just unequipped to help): "I'm sorry, that is really frustrating. I feel bad, but there is nothing more I can do."

I spent five years working for Apple in the early 2000s. I've spent at least $20k on Apple systems in my life, and sold much, much more in Apple product to family and friends. I've always believed in the company's commitment to quality and customer experience, and I was always willing to pay a little more for that differentiated service and quality. I never, ever thought anything could push me to leave the Apple ecosystem. But with this experience, Apple managed to prove to me that they do not care about losing individual customers, and have lost my loyalty.

I Have read through the posts and see that people have noted they have the problem with their iPhone 6. I have the same problem with my iPad Air iOS 9.3.5. I have tried all the hard restart, delete google maps and even tried clicking my heals three times, but still no luck. Anyhow, the reason I bring this up is because if it is a hardware problem as some suggest, then the same hardware issue would be in the iPad. Is that something likely to happen?

ALso, I have an iphone 4 iOS 7.1.2 (ya, I know, old, but so am I). The gps on this works just fine. I downloaded an app (GPS Status) to both my iPhone and my iPad that shows the gps strength. Turned on airplane mode on both. It reported weak strength on my iPad and excellent strength on my iPhone. Hardware or Software...hmm, don't know.

Ill head to the Apple Store when I get a chance.
