Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.3

This issue has hit all time high and may impact Apple's iPhone sales for the next model.

Glad to see the Forbes article.  Glad that I move on but would still be an iphone user if they had not cheated me out of my warranty

I have had these issues on my 6 plus for the last month. My phone is due to be replaced the 23rd of September but as of this morning, I could no longer get it to recognize touch at all. I have reverted to my old iPhone 4. This stinks and Apple should do something to recognize the issue.

Definitely a hardware defect - and the story is now out in the news. Let's see if Apple decides to volunarily fix the problem or if they wait for the class-action lawsuits. By the way, whenever I receive a notification and the vibrator activates, that seems to temporarily fix the problem. My guess is that the vibrations nudge the connections between the touch controllers and the logic board.

Looks like Apple has decided to remove my post and sensor responses.  Just wanted to add my name to the many with this same issue.  Hoping someone at Apple will make the right choice.

I have this problem as well. I am really upset because I am out of warranty and I don't want to upgrade to a iPhone 7 because I hate not having a headphone jack.

I feel like I am being pushed toward Samsung here.

I bought the 128G iPhone 6+ model and I really expected this thing to last longer than a year and a half. My iPhone 4s still works and it is much older.

I have invested a great deal in the Apple ecosystem and I expect better from them.

I hope they can make this right.

Yes. I am facing the same problem from last couple of months. have tried everything, had format my iPhone twice, updated with the latest version, even got my screen changed still it didn't work.

It is so annoying now to use my iPhone in this condition.

: It doesn't response many times wen i have to answer a call or make one.

: when i unlock my phone with passcode, it presses wrong digits.

: when kept unlocked, it automatically opens any app or make calls.

: continuous white lines keep appearing on screen which makes the screen unresponsive.

And they say there is no repair for this problem. This is big shame to Apple, to produce a product with such a huge manufacturing defect. We don't expect this from you.

They won't make anything better now. Its wise to switch to Samsung and thats what i am gonna do. In less than 2 year my iPhone 6 plus 128gigs is a waste now. Totally not worth.

Yes, a great idea. After all, Samsung products are perfect. The never fail, so there's no need of a warranty. And if you drop it and break it they will gladly replace it for free. Oh, wait - no they won't. They'll make you buy a new one for full price. Unlike Apple, who will offer you a replacement for less than half price.

I'm really annoyed by this issue. I just recently bought an iPhone 6 Plus from eBay (second hand) because I needed the extra storage space, because, let's face it, 16GB is worthless in this day and age. It must be about a year old and I'm now having the touch screen issue.

I manage to get the screen working every few days by twisting the phone at the top but I'm worried that that is going to be ineffective in a few weeks/months of trying it every time.

Now I'm stuck with a phone that sometimes doesn't work, only because Apple made a faulty product and won't own up to it. Guess I'll have to deal with it until my contract is up in March 2017.

"Unlike Apple, who will offer you a replacement for less than half price" ... a year and a day after purchase? What a bargain...

Compared to any other phone manufacturer, who will make you pay full price one day after their warranty expires. Of course, no other phone has ever failed after the warranty has expired, so I guess it's moot.

you are totally ignoring the context - Samsung had their highest priced phone die in massive quantities about a year after purchase?
