Q: Mirror display Macbook Pro to iMac 21.5

I want to use my iMac 21.5 inch (late 2015) as an external display from my Macbook Pro Retina (2015) but have not been able to do so through a thunderbolt cable. Can some one please help me?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), Mac Book Pro Retina (late 2015)

Please see this bit of bad news in the article that kaz-k linked:

Note: iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) and later iMac models can't be used as Target Display Mode displays.
