Q: Which connections to use

Hi

I have recently purchased a Mac Pro (Late 2013) from a friend.  I'm now running Windows 10 via Bootcamp and will be buying two of these Dell Ultrasharps U2515H

These are non thunderbolt displays and are 2560 x 1440

Could anyone please advise me on which are the best video connections/ports to connect to these are?

Thank you

Mac Pro (Late 2013), Windows 10, null

    Ports & interfaces
    Built-in USB hub Yes
USB hub version USB 3.0 (3.1 Gen 1)
USB Type-A downstream ports quantity 5
    DVI port No
    HDMI ports quantity 2
    DisplayPorts quantity 1
    Mini DisplayPorts quantity 1
    Audio output Yes
    AC (power) in Yes

so you need two cables, Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort (or Mini DisplayPort to [Full size] DisplayPort if those are cheaper).

That will cause the lowest load on your hardware and get you the best resolution with the least fuss.

You plug Mini DisplayPort end into the ThunderBolt ports and they pick up the video subset they need, a regular ThunderBolt cable is much more expensive and will not work.

Displays seldom have a DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort output, but the ones that do take pains to call it out separately as an Output.

My monitor has MDP, DP and HDMI and it clearly identifies each input and even provides an icon the each connection on the screen
