Q: iOS 5.0.1 does not work with Volvo Car Stereo
My iPhone 4S was working fine when connected to the USB port of my 2011 Volvo XC90 i.e. music and other audio apps (Tune-in Radio) would play and be controllable through the audio console of the vehicle. But since updating to iOS 5.0.1, the car stereo console says "iPod Unreadable". This same problem happened before when I updated my old iPhone 4 to iOS 4.2.1, which later got fixed by a subsequent iOS update. I should mention, the Bluetooth interface in my car for transmitting hands-free phone calls from my iPhone is still working just fine- both car and device pair automatically when in range, and sound quality is good. Therefore the problem is just with the USB interface. This is not Volvo's problem to solve, because the iPhone was working just fine prior to this latest update. So the problem and solution lies with Apple! I have already reported this to apple.com/feedback and bugreport.apple.com, and sent an email to devbugs@apple.com. If you are having the same problem, please let Apple know!

NEVERMIND! IT WORKS NOW!
For some reason, when I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, my iPhone didn't have any music on it i.e. zero songs were on my iPhone. I didn't notice this until now, and this was probably why my Volvo said "iPod Unreadable" and prevented my audio apps from transmitting audio to the car stereo. I added music to my iPhone and !voila! everything works just like before- my Volvo plays/controls music, displays song info, and audio apps work just fine, like before! I now have to retrack my bug report and feedback to Apple.
