Q: iTunes update downloaded but didn't install

My iPhone requires 12.2.2 or later to be able to connect with iTunes on my mac. I went to update it and it downloaded but when I check the version it is still on 12.0.1.26. I have downloaded it from the Updates section in the App Store and on the Apple Downloads page but both did not install the update. What can I do to get the update installed?
