Q: where to save downloaded files? iPod Touch

Hi

Newbie to all things Apple, so looking for some help whilst I still have some hair left.

 

I'm at a total loss, so hopefully someone will hold my hand and guide me through the first steps. Once I have downloaded a couple of MP3 files to my PC, where do I then Save/Move them to into iTunes, so that I will then be able to transfer them to my iPod? The next questin I wold be asking will be "and how do I do that?"

 

Thanks from one who started off on MS-DOS and has grown up through Windows (and now Android).
