Q: Cellular Data is on but not working?
This problem has been plaguing me for the last few days. So I just got home from a year study abroad in Japan, and had a new SIM put into my iPhone 6 when I came home. I saw the bars, and LTE show up. Cellular Data was on, I never turned it off. But every time I would try to use internet, or anything that required internet, my phone would claim there was no connection, and I had to turn on Cellular data or connect to Wifi. I went to Verizon, they said they didn't know what to do. I went to Apple, and they didn't know either.
The weird thing is, my phone works only if I Restore it. If I connect to my computer, go ti iTunes and hit "Restore iPhone," and start again, the internet works. So I backed up my phone before doing this, only to find out that if I restore the backup then my internet stops working again. Now I don't mind restoring my phone. It's updated to 9.3.4, and most of my stuff comes back through iCloud anyways I'm pretty sure. (Notes, contacts, etc. Honestly I'm not sure if that's iCloud because I don't really know what's on my iCloud or how to check, either, but if I Restore my phone these things all still come back.) The only problem with that is, if I do that I lose all my photos. I have about 10,000 photos and videos on my iPhone which I need to upload to Facebook, some I wanna keep on my phone regardless. I backed them up into a Folder using Image Capture; I couldn't use iPhoto because it kept finding issues with my pictures and refusing to back them up, so it turned out to be useless. I backed them up, wiped my phone, and put the photos all back on, except now they're in an album captioned "from My Mac," and NOT in my Camera Roll. They're also unable to be deleted, and I can't put them all on Facebook; Facebook only goes back to my last 5,000 for some reason, not all the way back through the 10,000. If they're all on my Camera Roll, however, then it'll go all the way back no problem.
As for the Cellular Data/Internet, I tried everything with Verizon and walk-in Apple stores; Reset Network Settings, Factory Reset, Restarting your phone, putting in another brand new SIM, I don't know what the **** is going on. I'm not even good with phones or anything Apple related so I was hoping someone here could help me out.
I just need to get back 2 things: my photos and my Internet Connection. It seems I can't have one without losing the other. I'm at my absolute wit's end, and this is not what I want to spend my time doing when I just came home. I didn't have these issues at all when I was abroad, they started as soon as I put the new SIM in, but Verizon and Apple have both claimed the SIM is not the problem. I'm really hoping someone can help me out here. I'm looking for a way, if possible, to restore internet on my backed up phone, or a way to restore my photos to Camera Roll on my restored phone, basically. Thank you for reading!
