Q: iTunes store link goes to apple Music- impossible to tell a Friend or Copy Link

I don't have Apple Music. I am in iTunes Music Store

I find a album that I think my friend would like to buy

i tried "tell a friend" and "copy Link"

i send it to my friend and if he click on the link,

he Always end-up on AppleMusic (i tried to send me the link. Same result)

on MacOS or iOS.

I received many of these link believing the other one was a member of AppleMusic

now I realize it is just impossible to send link that goes to the music Store.

It work for App, but not for music.

Anybody found a way to help an artist by telling others to buy it on iTune Music Store  instead of going to AppleMusic ?

Thank you

    Hi Franco Borgo,

Thanks for your question.   Just to clarify, you are trying to send a message to a friend about an album in the iTunes Store, but you believe your friend is being directed to Apple Music (which is a membership) and not the iTunes Store when they click on your email link.

I followed your process to "tell a friend" using my iPhone and can understand your confusion.  The Music App opens to show you the album/songlist.  Whether or not you have an Apple Music membership, the Music app is the one that will open to play/purchase music on your iOS Device.   You do not have to join Apple Music to purchase or play music on the iTunes Store.

    Take care.

thank you for your answer, :-) not sure I understand everything you are saying (english is not my primary language)

I will try again on an iPhone , but this video is the example on the Mac.

If I go to the AppStore and I found an App and I want my friend to buy it. I use the "Tell a friend" or "Copy link"

They click on the link they go directly on the App in the AppStore, ready to purchase the App.

Before Apple Music, If I went to Music Store, and found an Album and I want my friend to buy it. I use the "Tell a friend" or "Copy link". They click on the link they go to a webPage that redirect them on the Album in the MusicStore, ready to purchase the Album. Exactly like to buy an App.

Now, they still go the webpage, with the price to purchase the Album, but they are not redirect to the Music Store, they are redirect to AppleMusic, and on this page, there is no way to buy the Album. The person must remember the name of the artist and album, do a search to find the album, then purchase it. So the link to the Music Store does not work anymore. It is not consistant with what we experience on the AppStore.

i will leave the video there a few days :-)

If you don't use Apple Music I would suggest to disable it from the parental controls in iTunes following these steps to avoid this behaviour: Use Restrictions in iTunes on your Mac or PC - Apple Support
