Q: Apple watch setup "Failed"

My apple watch disconnected from my iphone 6s for unknown reason.  After a number of attempts to reconnect it, I decided to reset the watch and unpaired it.  The set up got stuck in "Verifying Apple ID", then after almost an hour a message appears that the set up has Failed and that I have to restart the process again.  I did this about 3 times.

What have i done wrong?  can someone help?

    Hi,

My apple watch disconnected from my iphone 6s for unknown reason.

See if there's a software update available for your iPhone.

Tap Settings > General > Software Update

After you have made sure the software is up to date, follow the instructions here >  If your Apple Watch isn't connected to your iPhone - Apple Support

I have checked the Software update and also done the instructions as per your link.

"The set up got stuck in "Verifying Apple ID", then after almost an hour a message appears that the set up has Failed and that I have to restart the process again."

It doesn't get past the verification.

Turned off iMessage and bypassed the Apple ID login.  The Paring was successful but still unable to login to my account in Apple watch app.

Brought it to the Genius bar and after numerous unsuccessful attempts, even with the inhouse iphone, the technician decided to send it to the manufacturer for software refresh.
