Q: Got used iPod Classic from niece in Az.  will I be able to activate it in my name

Knowing that I was having trouble with my now discontinued iPod Classic my niece in AZ sent me one that her family was no longer using.  It still has her name on it and one song.  Will I be able to activate it in my name here in NY?

Yes. An iPod classic doesn’t directly communicate with the Internet.

Thank you for that help.  I was able to restore the used iPod and remove my nieces name and her one song.  I was not asked for any input and when the ipod came on for the first time it already was named "ottiliegirl's ipod" which is also the name of one of my original iPods.  So now I have 2 iPods called "ottiiegirl".   .  My original 80 gb one has 3470 songs that I want on this new one.  The one I just got is 120gb and has no songs.  How do I get my songs on this recent addition?  Every place I found "sync" was grayed out.  Does the fact that both have the same name affect anything?  What do I need to do to get both working?  I also have a third 160 gb classic named "pat's ipod".

One other thing I noticed is that when I look on my file manager this new ipod is listed as Ottiliegirl (D:) not ottiliegirl's.  I know many times the names have to be exact.  Is that a problem?  Thanks again.

I searched a little further and I found out how to do this.  I now have all my music on the new ipod.  Thanks again.
