Q: About My New Apple Airport Time Capsule 2TB WiFi & Hard Drive???

I Have a Brand New Apple Airport Time Capsule 2TB WiFi & Hard Drive that I Just Bought & I have a question to ask

 

 

 

will this Apple Airport Time Capsule backup My 2009 24inch Apple iMac Computer when it's Sleeping???

 

 

i think as of what the rules say, it's gonna get hourly backup's & stuff on what it was explaining to me

 

 

so is that a good thing????

 

 

or how many times should i backup My 2009 24inch Apple iMac Computer to Apple Airport Time Capsule???

 

I Have 2GB

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), Mid 2009 24inch Apple iMac Computer

    Yes, if your Mac has Power Nap capability and it is enabled. A 2009 iMac may not have this capability though.  Check System Preferences / Energy Saver on your Mac.

    Yes, if you want the Mac to back up any work that you have done in the last hour.

    My advice would be to let Time Machine operate as it was designed and not worry about it.

    my mac does not have Power Nap Capability so what should i do???

    Nothing. Just know that your Time Machine will not back up when the Mac is sleeping.  That should not be a problem, because if the Mac is sleeping, then there is probably very little new information for Time Machine to back up.

     

    When the Mac wakes up, then Time Machine will back up data after the Mac has been awake for an hour or so.

     

    Honestly, you are worrying about nothing. Time Machine will work just fine if you leave it alone to do its job.
