Q: cant create aac from mp3

with the latest updates Apple just deleted all my ripped songs from my iphone (just got them back manually, thanks apple - i didnt have anything else to do than copy my songs back to my iphone!) and now i cannot convert mp3 to aac to make my own ringtones.

itunes (win/itunes 12.4.3.1)

File -> Convert -> Create aac version is grayed out.

Can anyone help?

Edit. Whatever... i got it working - what a buggy version of itunes... is the windows version always alpha??? working-not working-hanging up-not working....

You didn't say what you did to fix things, but Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows may help if it crops up again. See also Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy to make sure you have a complete backup of your library.

I've found Audacity to be irreplaceable on my Mac and PC when Apple modifies iTunes to support new "features" or just releases it after the developers decide it's QC'ed enough and they more concerned with the scheduled 4:20 PM meeting with some diabolical California purple train wreck.
this software is a swiss army knife or audio , scratch that; it's the MacGyver of audio freeware.
