I pasted this one from the internet but I need to type my own. The symbols/emoji bank gives me something similar, but it's not properly positioned under the character.

Do you have a reference for the use of this symbol for elision of characters?
If you are referring to musical elision, where it comes between characters, use U+203F undertie: a‿e
