Q: Wifi disabled in Windows 10 Boot Camp, can't reinstall driver

Running a late-2013 MBP Retina 15"

I've had Windows 10 Boot Camp installed for more than a year without difficulty. But suddenly, my wifi stopped working in Windows 10. It could see networks and said it was connected, but there was never an internet connection.

Assuming it was the result of an update, I've...

1. uninstalled all the regular Windows updates I can

2. uninstalled the Broadcom driver

3. downloaded the latest WSS from Boot Camp Assistant and installed

But now I can't reinstall any driver for the Broadcom card! I tried installing the WSS, but the network adapter stays in my Device Manager without a driver. So then I tried installing the individual install files in the Broadcom folder. Still didn't work. I even tried extracting all of the Broadcom install files and manually installing any of the drivers. Windows 10 seems to recognize that the "ac" driver is the right but keeps telling me the driver installation failed without giving specifics.

What else can I try?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
