Q: Cant reinstall OSX

hi all,

yeaterday I tried to reinstall my Macbook pro mid 2014.

Ater booting while holding command+R I went to the Ethernet recovery.

So I tried again and again bit it keeps puching to the same ethernet recovery.

So, after lots and lots of tries, I gave up and let it do its thing from the ethernet recovert mode.

This also fails. It says that it cannot download the requirement OSX parts.

So I moved on and tried to recover it from a backup via Timamachine.

This FAILED too.

Note, os version is El Capitan latest updates. The rovery is for Mavericks.

Is it normal that you recover from the os it shipped with?

I Have no idea what to do at this point.

Anyone any suggestions?

thanks

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

    To do what you want:

    Install Lion Through Yosemite

Be sure you backup your files.

    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears. Wait patiently - 5-15 minutes - until the Utility Menu appears.
    2. Select Disk Utility from the Utility Menu and click on the Continue button.
    3. After Disk Utility loads select the drive (usually, this is the out-dented entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the side list. Click on the Partition tab in Disk Utility’s main window.
    4. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions to one volume. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the Format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait for the process to finish. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
    5. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utility Menu and click on the Install button.

If you can't start up from OS X Recovery, try holding down Option-Command-R to start up from OS X Internet Recovery*.

Then you should try installing El Capitan instead of Mavericks. The image you posted is from the Network Install process (COMMAND-OPTION-R)? Did your format the drive first?

What version of OS X was originally installed on the computer?
