Q: iPad Mini 2 turns off air play to Apple TV every 5 minutes

I am streaming video to my Apple TV 4th Generation from my iPad mini 2 (purchased March 2016 using Air Play.  This AM I watched video for 2 hours with no problems. Tonight it shuts off after 5 minutes of use. This AM the screen went black but the video continued to stream. Tonight, it shuts off after 5 minutes of streaming. Help me figure out where the setting is to stop it shutting down after 5 minutes of no known activity. RRR

Hi. Check Settings > General > Sleep After. If that doesn't help, check for WiFi interference at your location. Traffic tends to be busier in the evening when everyone's home. You can get the Apple AirPort Utility app for your iPad from the app store. Be sure to enable WiFi Scan in Settings > AirPort Utility before using. Run it, ignoring the search for an AirPort, tap the Scan in the top corner to see nearby networks and the channels they're using. Try to pick a different channel and configure your WiFi router to use it.

Did you understand that my device is an iPad mini 2 purchased in March 2016? In Settings > General > There is not such a setting as "sleep after"! Maybe you are thinking about iPad some other version, but iPad mini 2 does not have such a setting in the areas you speak of. Maybe it is someplace else, but no matter where I search, I cannot locate such a setting. Although my iPad mini 2 does sleep after 5 minutes of screen inactivity, I cannot find a setting that allows me to change this setting. If you have any other info, I would be much appreciative, but your info is inaccurate. I can see that you have accumulated more than 2000 points, but you are a newbie to the iPad arena. Please provide more accurate info re: where to find the setting to change "sleep after" within iPad mini software. A Google search last night did not provide any useful info about this situation. However today after Google searching using "sleep after" wording, the info appears about auto lock. I'm not sure I really want to change the auto lock option. I still want it to auto lock after it sleeps. HELP?

Oh my. I suppose I should have mentioned that I was referring to the Settings on your Apple TV. If Apple TV cannot handle AirPlay for any reason, it cancels and play goes back to the iPad.

You may also be affected by the Apple TV Settings > General > Screensaver > Start After setting.
