Q: How do you  move large backup files from one drive to another drive

I have a very large back-up file that I would like to move from one back-up drive to another. When I follow Apple instructions to copy with finder, the operation fails after several hours. Is there a better way to move very large files?

Mac Mini Server (Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Try using Disk Utility/Restore to copy the backup to a new location. Please note that this will reformat the destination partition.
