Aug 19, 2016 11:31 AM in response to Eric Rootby kjbphillyfan,Eric, thanks much for the quick reply. I read all the links. Still, I don't think they cover my issue. One of my sons, on my iMac messages software, has somehow changed from iMessage to text message successfully. My other son, still defaults to iMessage for his new android device. This is the problem. The message is sent as an iMessage on my iMac, and then never shows as an error in being sent or un-received. How can I change the messages to be be a Text message and not an iMessage from my iMac. My iPhone has already successfully made the "change" from iMessage to now default Text message. It is only my iMac that is affected. My iMac messages software still "thinks" he has an iPhone, which he no longer has. i can't seem to find how to change the iMac to "think" any differently.....

Aug 19, 2016 11:41 AM in response to kjbphillyfanby Eric Root,You posted in the Mavericks (10.9) community. Are you using Mavericks or Yosemite (10.10)? Yosemite is required for SMS handoff to work. Have you linked your iPhone to your Mac per the above links?

ApplicationsHi,
As Eric says you should at least iOS 8 on your iPhone and OS 10.10.0 on your Mac (Yosemite).
This should then be set to Sync iMessages as standard, link the phone to the LAN using Wifi which will then allow Text Forwarding to be set up so the Mac can see then send SMS.
I am reading your posts with the view to the fact you have done the set up (as one son's connection is via SMS).
For the other if you Send from your iPhone does the SMS appear to sync to your Mac ?
Basically once Text Forwarding is done the SMS Messages should sync the way iMessages ones do.
If this is not happening you may need to Reset the Text Forwarding setting.

Aug 27, 2016 10:01 AM in response to kjbphillyfanby stevejobsfan0123,Your sons may also need to deregister iMessage: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage.
I have twin sons, and they recently traded in their iPhones for Samsung Galaxy's (Android).
Their loss.
