Q: Disc Image Issue

I have some Pages documents that I need to keep private.  I started adding a password to each document but that was tedious.  I read about creating an encrypted disc image (DMG) so I made one.  In Disc Utility it shows the disc icon and the name PRIVATE.DMG with a drive icon (Mounted Partition) below it with the name Pages.  It sits on my desktop as a disc icon and the name PRIVATE.DMG.  In Finder it shows up as a Disc Image (not a Sparsebundle) however I cannot add any files to it.  I tried dragging the files and dropping them on the icon as well as using two Finder windows to drag and drop between but nothing happens.

The ONLY way I can add files is to open the partition in Disc Utility and drag and drop them into the window that opens up.  This seems a little clunky way of doing things.  Is there another way of adding and viewing files without using Disc utility?

Thanks

Alan

Is the disk image password protected? Did you unlock it prior to trying to copy files to it?

Yes it is and when I open it in Disc Utility it prompts me for is and I can access the files.  I just want to know if there is a better way of opening it other than through Disc Utility.  I have the DMG icon on my desktop and when I double click on it, I'm again prompted for the password but when I hit Enter, nothing happens.  I would have thought that a window would have opened showing my files.

    Thanks
