Q: cMac Pro configuration.

Hi Im a photography student in NY state. Well currently, I have Late 2013 Macbook Pro 15inch full upgraded version to run Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premier Pro. Photoshop and LR are my main programs. To be honest, Macbook Pro is not enough to run those program well especially with Photoshop. In addition, overheating is an issue. I've been using it for 2 years and half but I really feel that I need to get a desktop grade computer like cMac pro with huge compatibility. However, it is not easy to spend a lot of money on electronic goods especially computers. When I found that cMac Pro is very worthy computer, I start researching about it to configure my own set up.

cMac Pro: mid 2012, 5.1

CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 2.66ghz 6 cores

RAM: 32gb http://www.ebay.com/itm/181782216323?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STR K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

GPU: GTX 760 or Radeon 7950

SSD: Sandisk 480gb Plus SATA 3

and max price is $1500. Mostly, sellers have similar specs that I wanted except for graphic card, CPU, or RAM. I can just add those but Im not sure if my set up is fine with my uses so far. Base on my own configuration, any thoughts or suggestions?

There is no cMac Pro, only a Mac Pro. We can't tell you which used computer you should buy nor what you should pay for it. You can research that on Amazon, Google, and eBay. There is only one Mac Pro sold by Apple. They start at $2,999.99. The iMac can be purchased for as low as $1,099.99.

cMac Pro means CLASSIC Mac Pro from 2008 to 2012

Then state that. There is no formal name of "cMac Pro." There was then and is now just a Mac Pro from a specific year. The Mac Pro after 2012 is called the Ash Can model to differentiate it from earlier models. A Classic Mac refers to the first Mac models Apple made in 1984.

What, specifically, do you wish to know about Mac Pros from 2008-2012?

    1. As I mentioned above, with my own configuration, will it be fine to run Adobe programs?

    2. Are there any issues with lifespan so far?

    3. Are there any compatibility issues with other parts?

    4. Does motherboard affect the performance?

    5. Anything else that I need to notice about cMac Pro?

    1. Yes.
    2. I know of none. My 2006 model is still running.
    3. Not likely, other than with the OS version.
    4. How so? The motherboard is the performance.
    5. Stick to 2009 and later.
