Dec 11, 2015 8:21 AM in response to 100 Page User Agreementby Protodd,That's the same with ALL computers and electronics. If you look at the first gen Roku and compare to Roku 4 there are features that the new one has the old one doesn't. Same with my iPhone4 compared with iPhone6. But you can still use the older devices but to get the new bells and whistles you need to upgrade the hardware. New tools require more processing power that werent available in the past.
You you may try restoring via iTunes to get a clean load of software on your device.

Dec 11, 2015 10:48 AM in response to Protoddby richardsonheights,I think I may have said this somewhere above in this thread, but I am almost certain this is caused by the screensaver settings. I finally just turned off the screensaver and have no longer had problems with this random restart nonsense on my ATV 2 or 3.

Dec 11, 2015 11:00 AM in response to OBRyan1by OBRyan1,Since going through these steps, we had had NO issues with the ATV. Very pleased with this solution.

Dec 11, 2015 11:04 AM in response to 100 Page User Agreementby OBRyan1,Read my post. It worked for me.
I have an Apple TV 2nd Gen and also have been experiencing the restart issue every time we watch Netflix. I just got off the phone with Apple Support and was told to switch HDMI ports and then restart the Apple TV. I did that, but I haven't watched anything yet, so I'm not sure if the solution worked but will test it later tonight.
This worked. Problem solved.

Dec 11, 2015 11:08 AM in response to richardsonheightsby OBRyan1,Cool. I'm glad that worked for you. I switched HDMI ports and then restarted the Apple TV. I have my screen saver still on and have no issues. Hope that helps.

Dec 11, 2015 10:47 PM in response to kfeeneyby Llamasterl ,i have had this problem for a while, with an older version. I went to settings and turned off AirPlay and it worked for me. I think my house was to busy with Mac signals it confused the poor guy. Worth a try.

Dec 12, 2015 11:43 PM in response to kfeeneyby ronald43,It's pretty clear to anyone reading the previous posts that the problem began after the update from Apple. There is also no indication that any of the suggestions by tech support have resolved anyone's issue to date. When can we expect an actual fix? Does anyone believe that this type of word of mouth will make someone buy AppleTV?

Jan 1, 2016 9:59 PM in response to malidcurringtonby dot.Alpine,I have the same exact problem. Not related to slow connectivity; I have 150mbs with no drops or any other disruptions on my many other connected devices. This always used to happen intermittently, but has gained in frequency over the past week or so. Extremely frustrating.

Feb 3, 2016 12:19 PM in response to Protoddby rnanderson,DItto! Mine resets / reboots itself at least once each day, usually in the middle of watching something. Very frustrating! Roku and Amazon prime might be in my future.

Feb 10, 2016 5:15 PM in response to kfeeneyby Dillonopolous,I tried all of the fixes listed and nothing seemed to work. What has worked for me was changing DNS settings from Google back to my ISP's on my router (Apple Extreme 4th gen)

Aug 4, 2016 6:11 PM in response to kfeeneyby ctoson,It is certainly not an applications issue. This is also happening on both of my generation 3 units multiple times per show. It happens with Netflix and almost after every commercial on Hulu. I'll try this fix on my units and provide feedback.

Aug 18, 2016 10:34 AM in response to kfeeneyby cholland64,We have had this issue for some time now. I've done all the usual things. Restart, Restore taken off power strip. Ours is a generation 2 and it restarts several times a day sometimes several times an hour. Does it with Netflix, HBO, Hulu and just about all the network apps. It isn't our wifi or network I've done the restart with that that too. Only the Apple tv has issues, no other device. More than just a little annoying.

Aug 27, 2016 8:00 PM in response to kfeeneyby jodiefromwhite plains,Mone does it too. It's constant with my 2nd Gen, can't get through more than 60 seconds without it restarting. Forced obsolescence? My 4th gen is fine.

Aug 31, 2016 8:01 AM in response to kfeeneyby fraber01,Mine too is randomly rebooting in Netflix, and whenever I pause playback for more than a minute... white led flashing, wheel and back to main menu.
Tried factory reset, disable all screensavers, plug network cable directly in atv2... nothing still rebooting.
