Q: how do i upload all my photos on my iPhone 6s to the icloud?

I have an Apple iPhone 6s, iPad 2, and a Mac Book Pro. I'm new to Apple! I want to upload ALL my photos to the cloud. I thought once you sync your devices the photos would be in the cloud.  In my case they "ain't there". What am i doing wrong?
