I had quick look and your mid 2010 MBP 15" is not on Bootcamp Win10 support but are on Win8.1 and Win7, so the latter two WinOS should be ok.
Follow Apple's link on how to go about it on Win7 and 8.1
Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support

Not on a 2010 model. A Windows USB installer is supported on 2012-2014 models.

You do not. You need to use BC Assistant.
